Champagne Charles Heidsieck: With savoir-faire to savoir-vivre

Exclusive tasting of selected Charles Heidsieck vintages at Bürgenstock Resort Lake Lucerne

We are delighted to extend this invitation: Zurich-based Jeroboam SA, Charles Heidsieck’s exclusive representative in Switzerland, cordially invites you to the Heidsieck Champagne Tasting in the newly opened Bürgenstock Resort. The beautiful landscape and the charming hotel create a setting worthy of a tasting of a selection of cuvées de prestige, every one of them single-origin Chardonnay champagnes from the House of Heidsieck, to find out what the oldest 33-year-old bottle-aged fermentation tastes like and what the quality of these rare champagnes is all about. Profound oenological knowledge and a luxurious location in a delightful environment will come together to create a perfect afternoon.

The small fine boutique champagne house of Charles Heidsieck was founded in Reims in 1851 and returned to family ownership once again in 2011. The champagne is stored in underground Crayères, a series of chalk cellars dating from the third century that are now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. From the very beginning, a succession of award-winning cellar masters have been responsible for the typical Heidsieck style. Since 2015, Cyril Brun, son of a local wine-growing family, has been custodian of this office and continues to develop this artisan style.

Only very rarely is a grape year so good that it can develop into a truly mature vintage. This has only been the case with five vintages of the Blanc des Millénaires between 1983 and 2004: 1983, 1985, 1990, 1995 and 2004. We dedicate ourselves to these years in a vertical tasting, with the freshness and potential of Charles Heidsieck Blanc des Millénaires 2004 Champagne taking centre stage. Its carefully selected grapes come from five villages in the Côte des Blancs, four of which are classified as Grand Cru and one as Premier Cru. Each terroir growing region gives the assemblage its own facet: The silky, melodious and structured hints to the Oger, the balance of Mesnil-sur-Oger, the minerality of Avize, the freshness and floral aromas of Vertus, and the complexity of Cramant. This pleasantly effervescent champagne with harmonious acidity opens with a scent of lemons, almonds, apple blossoms, toast and vanilla developing aromas of yellow fruits, brioche and butter on the palate. The tasting will be accompanied by the expertise and experience of the cellar master Cyril Brun, who can answer our questions with great knowledge. At the end of the year, a mere 150 highly exclusive cases of the presented champagne selection will go on sale worldwide. We really like the 1983 and 1995. The outstanding quality is just 'typiquement Charlie'. The Bürgenstock Resort Lake Lucerne, where we will be enjoying our champagne state of mind, is equally impressive. The 5-star superior Bürgenstock Hotel & Alpine Spa was named Switzerland’s best spa hotel out of all its various hotels. From the rugged rocks, we will have a wonderful view of Lake Lucerne – an equally tingling experience.
